As the Area Sales Manager for Channel Sales/Distribution Sales, you will be responsible for spearheading distribution and sales strategies within the designated region. Your role involves setting sales objectives, expanding business networks, ensuring customer satisfaction, and fostering team development. Strategic planning and effective reporting will be key drivers for achieving organizational success in the region.

 

Position- Area Sales Manager

Reporting to- Regional Sales Head / National Sales Head

Work days- Monday to Saturday (1st Saturday Off) 

Salary- Basis experience and caliber plus variable incentives

 

  1. Distribution and Sales Management:
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate the distribution of products to dealers, distributors, and retailers in the assigned region.
  • Establish sales goals and territories, analyze sales statistics to determine potential, and manage inventory requirements.
  • Monitor customer preferences and stay abreast of market trends within the region.

 

  1. Distribution Network Development:
  • Set up infrastructure and appoint financially strong business partners, distributors, and dealers.
  • Explore new areas and districts for business generation, contributing to the expansion of the product portfolio.
  • Develop and manage a network of channel partners and dealers, fostering business growth.
  • Assess the marketing potential of new and existing store locations.

 

  1. Sales Strategy and Execution:
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve sales targets and expand the dealer/distributor base.
  • Conduct regular goal reviews and performance evaluations with team members on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Oversee state and local sales managers, ensuring budgeted sales and profit goals are met.

 

  1. Customer Relationship Management:
  • Monitor customer preferences, guiding sales efforts effectively.
  • Advise dealers and distributors on policies and procedures for optimal business functionality.
  • Engage with potential distributors, dealers, and customers to understand product needs.
  • Attend trade shows, exhibitions, and organize district-level meets to promote products.

 

  1. Customer Support and Operational Assistance:
  • Resolve customer complaints related to sales and service.
  • Provide technical support to distributors when needed.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and terms for smooth business operations.
  • Follow up with channel partners for payment collection and monitor service after sales.
  1. MIS and Reporting:
  • Maintain, update, and monitor various sales MIS reports, including daily call reports and sales forecasting.
  • Ensure the quality and relevance of MIS data for timely and accurate reporting.
  • Prepare and present MIS presentations to management for sales reviews.
  1. Self and Team Development:
  • Recruit, motivate, train, and groom the team for enhanced performance.
  • Act as a coach and mentor, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Induct new team members into the market and provide support in establishing connections with distributors and dealers.
  • Ensure timely appraisals and implement a training calendar for the team.

Skills

  • Excellent Communication in English, Strong relationship & networking skills, Goal Oriented,
  • Ability to travel extensively, commercially astute with strong negotiation Skills, Team building ability Etc.
  • Qualification bachelor’s degree in any field. Post-Graduation in Sales & Marketing and formal Education in Electricals will be an added advantage but not mandatory.
  • Experience Minimum 12-15 years of relevant industry experience in switchgear/ electrical engineering.
