Job Description: Laboratory Engineer (6-8 years experience)

Position Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Engineer with 6-8 years of hands-on experience in laboratory environments. The Laboratory Engineer will be responsible for managing laboratory operations, conducting experiments, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in laboratory processes and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Laboratory Operations Management:

   • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, including scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow optimization to support research and development activities.
   • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for laboratory processes, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
   • Manage laboratory inventory, including chemicals, reagents, consumables, and equipment, to ensure adequate supply levels and minimize disruptions to ongoing experiments.

2. Experiment Design and Execution:

   • Design, plan, and execute experiments in collaboration with research teams, specifying experimental conditions, protocols, and data collection methods.
   • Conduct experiments using a variety of laboratory techniques and instrumentation, ensuring accuracy, precision, and reproducibility of results.
   • Analyze experimental data using statistical methods and data analysis software, interpreting findings and drawing meaningful conclusions to support research objectives.

3. Equipment Maintenance and Calibration:

   • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment and instrumentation according to manufacturer specifications and regulatory requirements.
   • Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks, troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, and coordinating repairs with external service providers as needed.
   • Document equipment maintenance activities, calibration records, and performance evaluations to ensure compliance with quality assurance standards and traceability requirements.

4. Quality Assurance and Compliance:

   • Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of experimental data, including proper documentation, data validation, and review processes.
   • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental guidelines, and industry best practices for laboratory operations, waste management, and chemical handling.
   • Participate in internal and external audits, inspections, and certifications to demonstrate adherence to quality management systems and regulatory standards.

5. Team Leadership and Training:

   • Provide leadership and guidance to laboratory technicians, junior engineers, and interns, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
   • Facilitate training sessions on laboratory techniques, safety procedures, and equipment operation to ensure competency and proficiency among laboratory staff.
   • Promote a positive work environment that values diversity, inclusion, and mutual respect, encouraging teamwork, innovation, and professional development.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
• 6-8 years of hands-on experience working in laboratory environments, preferably in a research or industrial setting.
• Proficiency in laboratory techniques, instrumentation, and experimental methods relevant to the specific industry or field of study.
• Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols, chemical handling procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Leadership experience, including team supervision, project management, or process improvement initiatives, is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS), data analysis software (e.g., MATLAB, R), and quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) is a plus.
