Job Description:

The Liaison Officer will play a vital role in navigating the complex landscape of regulatory compliance, stakeholder engagement, and project advocacy. This position requires a combination of strong communication skills, knowledge of water supply and wastewater regulations, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including government agencies, local communities, and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies for effective liaison and relationship management with government bodies, regulatory agencies, community groups, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure all water supply projects comply with federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permits.
  • Facilitate communication and coordinate activities between project teams and external stakeholders to support project planning, execution, and completion.
  • Represent the company in meetings, hearings, and discussions with regulatory agencies and other stakeholders to advocate for project interests and negotiate solutions.
  • Monitor changes in relevant legislation and regulatory environments, and advise project teams on compliance strategies.
  • Assist in the preparation of permits, reports, and documentation required for project approvals and compliance.
  • Support the project management team with risk management strategies related to regulatory, community, and stakeholder issues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Public Administration, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in liaison roles, preferably within the water supply, wastewater, or civil engineering sectors.
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations, permitting processes, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse groups.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic project setting.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to addressing challenges and opportunities.
  • Willingness to travel as required to meet project and stakeholder engagement needs.
