Job Description:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operates and adjusts high pressure gas, oil, and coal fired boilers in the steam generating plant.
- Maintains maximum boiler efficiency by adjusting, reading, and interpreting gauges, indicators, and steam flow meters.
- Maintains oil heaters, pumps, oil storage facilities, and oil unloading equipment.
- Operates steam plant as situation warrants on natural gas, oil, or coal.
- Observes boiler plant operations through use of electronic or pneumatic controls, pressure gauges, and safety devices.
- Supervises or performs the chemical testing and treatment of boiler feed water.
- Maintains various records and reports relative to steam plant operations.
- Exercises supervision over employees allocated to the class of Boiler Operator I.
- Makes regular checks of plant equipment and makes adjustments, repairs, and services equipment as required.
