Job Description:

1)    Good knowledge of Safety Management with Legal Requirements and capability to meet Legal Compliances.

2)    Short term planning and long term planning for the safety department in line with Management requirements. i.e. manpower, Training, Policy matters, Updation, Technology with Safety activities, conducting seminars with the additional aim of image building, etc.

3)    Supervise the work of subordinates, company's employees & contract workers with respect to safety Carry out periodic inspection of the site to identify the unsafe conditions/practices and report the same to concerned functions for corrective actions

4)    Ensure compliance of relevant statutory requirements Conduct regular training on Safety and Health Ensure JSA (Job Safety Analysis)/ Permit to Work System is strictly implemented in the factory

5)    Ensure that necessary monitoring and measurement of HSE performance parameters is carried out Appropriate investigation and reporting of OH&S (Occupational hazards and safety) incidents, transport incidents and implementation of corrective actions

6)    Ensure effective maintenance of firefighting and other safety appliances, calibration of all personal gas monitors, maintain checklist of firefighting & emergency equipment’s and ensure that appropriate and adequate PPEs (Personal protective equipment) are made available to the employees

7)    Ensure periodical medical check-up of the employees in coordination with company medical officer Coordinate with all central safety committee members for compliance of points discussed in monthly safety committee meeting

8)    Prepare monthly safety performance report and present it in monthly safety committee meeting

9)    Ensure that on-site emergency plan is updated periodically and ensure adequate training is provided to the ERT (Emergency response team) on a regular basis.

10)  Employees working at factory are trained and mock drills are carried out periodically to evaluate the effectiveness of emergency preparedness Impart SCBA training (Self-contained breathing apparatus) to ERT team on regular basis Comply with the statutory requirements by periodical internal/external.

11) Ensure that there are procedures in place for the examination, inspection, maintenance and safe operation of all mobile (manual and self-propelled) plant or equipment.

12) Ensure that adequate controls are in place for the correct provision and use of personal protective equipment to assist in the prevention of injury

 

13) Incorporate ergonomic principles in all aspects of the working environment in order to prevent injury and ill-health. Fire Control System:

14) Identify the hazard and risks for fire within the plant and control them with appropriate measures.

15) Ensure that documented procedures and effective systems are in place for safe evacuation of people in the event of a fire

16) Establish systems and procedures for dealing with emergency situations. MEASUREMENT AND CONTROL SYSTEMS

17) Reporting system for incidents is to capture all unintended /unplanned events that have resulted in losses or have the potential to do so

18) Ensure that all incidents including near misses and damages are investigated to prevent their re-occurrence.

19) Ensure that safety statistics are maintained to measure the safety performance of the organization. WORKPLACE IMPLEMENTATION:

20) Ensure that adequate signage is displayed to warn of danger, hazards, and actions to be taken, safe and prohibited areas around the workplace.

21) Ensure that identification of the contents and direction of flow of substances, including gases and vapours in pipes and vessels.
