Job Description:

Dean plays a crucial role in shaping the department's academic direction, fostering a culture of excellence, and promoting its success within the university and broader community.

Responsibilities:

  1. Academic Leadership:
    • Provide visionary leadership to advance academic goals.
    • Develop and implement programs aligned with industry trends.
    • Foster excellence in teaching, research, and innovation.
    • Supervise faculty and promote interdisciplinary collaboration.
  2. Administrative Management:
    • Manage budgets, resources, and facilities.
    • Oversee faculty recruitment, hiring, and retention.
    • Coordinate academic advising and student services.
    • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
  3. Strategic Planning and Development:
    • Develop strategic plans to enhance departmental impact.
    • Identify growth opportunities and external partnerships.
    • Foster relationships with industry partners and seek funding.
  4. Student Engagement and Success:
    • Promote an inclusive learning environment.
    • Advocate for student needs and support initiatives.
    • Enhance recruitment, retention, and graduation rates.
  5. Research and Innovation:
    • Support faculty research and collaboration.
    • Promote technology transfer and entrepreneurship.
    • Ensure compliance with ethical standards.
  6. External Relations and Outreach:
    • Act as a spokesperson and advocate for the department.
    • Cultivate relationships with stakeholders and enhance visibility.
    • Participate in fundraising efforts.
  7. Professional Development and Continuous Improvement:
    • Support professional development for faculty, staff, and students.
    • Assess and improve departmental programs.
    • Stay updated on trends and best practices in computer engineering.
Desired Profile / Criteria / Skills :

Qualifications:

  1. Advanced Degree: A terminal degree in Computer Engineering, or a related field is required.
  2. Academic Experience: Extensive experience as a faculty member in higher education, with a strong record in teaching, research, and service.
  3. Administrative Experience: Demonstrated leadership in academic administration, such as serving as a department chair or program director.
  4. Management Skills: Proven ability to manage budgets, resources, and administrative operations effectively.
  5. Accreditation Knowledge: Familiarity with accreditation standards relevant to computer engineering programs.
  6. Professional Network: Established connections within academia, industry, and relevant professional organizations.
  7. Ethical Leadership: Commitment to upholding ethical standards in academic research and administration.
