A maintenance fitter assembles and fits heavy machinery parts or industrial equipment.
You also repair and maintain machinery to ensure optimal performance.
You will likely work in factories and depots in the manufacturing and mining industries.
prepares structural metal products for welding and riveting. He/She lays out parts, lines up edges and fits parts together. He/She knows how much to allow for the effects of heat and shrinkage on metal. He/She positions parts by hand or uses cranes and hoists to position them.
